All the hard work has paid off, and a specialist is now on board, the first in the state, to help patients like Dr. Mel. "If it weren't for medical trials, I wouldn't be here talking with you right now," Dr. Mel said. "When I was diagnosed 12 years ago, there wasn't really a single physician in the entire state of Connecticut that specializes exclusively on multiple myeloma." Read more...

momIt doesn't seem fair. For all they do, only one day of the year is set aside to recognize moms. A week seems more appropriate. But then again, most busy moms don't have more than 15 minutes, let alone a week, to take a well-deserved bow and collect the multiple "thank-yous" they so richly deserve. So we must settle on a mere 24 hours. Tradition dictates that on Mother's Day we should give moms a special gift that says, "Thank you for all you do, and I love you." Of course, flowers, a picture frame, a sentimental card or a piece of jewelry make nice gifts, but most moms would simply be happy with a great big hug and kiss and a sincere "Thanks, Mom!"  Read More...

qigongDESPITE gloomy skies and light rain, 150 tai chi enthusiasts gathered on the courts of the Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre recently in celebrating World Tai Chi and Qigong Day. The event opened with a mass demonstration of the ancient Chinese art for an interested crowd of onlookers.

From that moment, 10 years from the founding of World Tai Chi Day, New Zealand once again launched a wave of healing energy that was taken up by 60 other nations around the globe. Read More...

 
Protest planned over herbal medicine amendment E-mail

herbsEDMONTON - Edmontonians who believe in traditional herbal medicines and natural health products will have the chance to voice their displeasure Saturday against what some claim is a renewed onslaught by Health Canada to control their rights to chose health products. The subject of their ire is Bill C-51, a much-anticipated amendment to the Food and Drug Act that is now before Parliament. Opponents of the bill say it is yet-another attempt to regulate herbal medicines and remove natural health therapeutic products from store shelves. Read more...
